Connecting Garmin

Garmin connects to Runsei directly. You do not need another app in between.

How to connect. In the app, on the web or the phone, open Profile → Data hub (the Connections screen), find Garmin and tap Connect Garmin. Garmin's own sign-in opens; approve access and you come back to Runsei.

Your activities come to Runsei. After your watch syncs to Garmin Connect, Garmin sends each new activity to Runsei, with no button to press. That includes every kind of activity, strength sessions as well as runs. Runsei matches a run to the session you had planned, scores how it went and uses it in your plan in the same way as a run from any other source. For now Garmin sends the run's distance, time and average heart rate; the map, laps and pace chart come from Strava if you have it connected. Runsei can read them from Garmin too, but not one run has arrived that way yet, so do not rely on it. Sleep, resting heart rate and HRV that your watch records arrive the same way. If the same run also reached Runsei another way, you get one run, not two, and Garmin's own record is the one Runsei keeps. Open Garmin Connect to sync your watch; your data reaches Runsei after that.

Your planned sessions go to your watch. On the Garmin page, Keep my next sessions on my watch keeps your next 7 days of sessions on your Garmin calendar and updates them when your plan changes. Or send a single session from its menu with Send to watch. Sessions appear on your watch once it syncs with Garmin Connect, and become guided workouts with the pace or heart-rate target Runsei set. Past sessions stay in your Garmin history.

What Runsei does not do (yet). It receives only what happens after you connect: activities from before are not imported. Your coach reads your Garmin runs and recovery data only if you separately allow it (most runners have not yet, and until then the coach is blind to them): once it is offered to you, Allow my coach to read Garmin data appears on the Garmin page, and you can withdraw it there at any time. From your next message the coach stops reading Garmin data. Until you allow it, the coach does not see it (it still sees runs that reach Runsei another way, such as Apple Health or Health Connect). Runsei never posts activities to your Garmin account.

Disconnect, and delete. You can disconnect at any time from the same screen. Runsei stops receiving your activities, deletes the access it stored for your Garmin account, erases the runs and recovery data that came from Garmin, and takes the upcoming sessions it put on your Garmin calendar off it. Runs from other sources stay.

Runsei works with Garmin watches; Garmin is a trademark of its owner. See the compatible devices on the Garmin page in the Data hub for your model.
